The Simple Hack for Boosting Your Mood: Revisiting Encouragement and Thank You Notes

Moments of self-doubt, poor energy, or a lack of enthusiasm are normal responses to the stresses of daily life. As a solopreneur, I face this situation frequently.

We could all use a little encouragement to keep us going through these trying times. One easy way to lift your spirits and get back on track is to read over the words of praise and gratitude you have received for jobs well done. I have made it a habit to keep these scraps of paper/screenshots of messages. Over the past three years, ever since I began doodling and making bookmarks etc., I have frequently received expressions of thanks, describing how the doodles are bringing joy and happiness to people’s lives.

What’s the deal here?

The power of kind words and expressions of appreciation cannot be overstated. They remind you of your successes and the good you’ve done for others, which can be a great source of inspiration when times are bad. Let’s take a look at this easy method of self-care and see why it’s so beneficial.

The Impact of Constructive Critique

The ability to receive and process praise is a powerful tool for development and mental health. Thank you cards and notes of encouragement are two examples of this type of concrete communication. Your efforts are recognized, and your value and significance are affirmed.

Looking Back at Your Achievements

It’s easy to forget your past successes and the encouraging words others have said about you when you’re feeling down. Reading over expressions of gratitude and support from others is a great way to reawaken feelings of pride and confidence. You might think of it as a library of inspirational speeches at your fingertips.

Your Own Words of Wisdom and Inspiration

These notes are extremely effective because of their genuine nature. They are sincere demonstrations of appreciation and admiration. The encouragement you feel from reading these letters is like having your own cheering section.

How to Start

Begin by collecting and organizing the notes and messages you’ve received over time. You might have emails, physical cards, text messages, or even social media comments. Create a special folder or digital document to keep them in one place.

The Uplifting Routine

When you find yourself in need of a mood boost, take a few moments to read through these notes. Immerse yourself in the positivity and gratitude they contain. Reflect on the achievements they acknowledge and the people you’ve positively influenced.

The Ripple Effect

The benefits of this simple practice extend beyond your personal well-being. When you boost your own mood and motivation, you become more resilient and better equipped to support and inspire those around you. It’s a cycle of positivity that can spread to others.

Choose Your Perspective

Encouragement and thank-you notes serve as a different lens through which you can view your life and accomplishments. They remind you that you’re not alone in your journey and that your efforts are recognized and valued.

It’s easy to lose sight of the positive influence we’ve had and the progress we’ve achieved in a world that typically emphasizes ongoing development and forward movement. When you’re feeling down, it can be helpful to read over notes of gratitude and words of encouragement from friends and family. These messages are more than simply words on paper or pixels on a screen; they are affirmations of who you are and what you can accomplish. Open that file, message or document the next time you’re feeling low, and let the encouraging words of others guide you.
